Local race.  Arrive early for parking.  Smaller area to put together canoes but host club provides many volunteers to help carry canoes down to water.

Great race for beginners to experienced.  7.6 miles race course around Lemon/Sand Island. Easy loading area from large parking lot (cost $5 per car) to beach access to water.  Up river, counter clockwise around island, down river with current and around last bouy counter clockwise to finish along beach.  Great watching area for family and friends and easy to find off highway.  Because of time of year weather can make water choppy. 

Things to consider about this race:

Parking can be tough so plan to get there early

Rocky shore to put canoes together so bring padding or canoe stand

Fun course heading down channel, around bouy and back down to finish which is tucked into marina so watching where other people are turning to finish is a must!

Usually good stew, oranges, hot beverage
