ENDURANCE – What’s in Your Tank?
Distance Race Course
The race course will be held on the Columbia River in the Gorge and will be 10.5 miles long looping around full circle to the start. The water will pose different conditions based on direction of course, wind, current, and water level via the Bonneville Dam. Seventy-five percent of the course will be visible from the park bank depending on conditions. From the bank’s edge you can see all the way down the river in both directions as the bank slopes down 20 feet to the shore. This poses great viewing for family and friends who come out for the day.

The course will start heading up river for 4 miles then turn counter clockwise around Phoca Rock and head down river against the wind with the current then turn one last time counter clockwise back up river to the finish.

Trailers
We recommend all teams that can trailer their boats to do so. Please try to arrive on Friday night if possible. There is plenty of room and plenty of hands to assist with unloading/loading, rigging, and assisting teams down to the water. With camping allowed per reservation, hauling canoes down the night before for rigging should help tremendously on race day.

Lending Canoes
Should you want to be placed on a waiting list to use MHCC canoes please contact rickerla@yahoo.com. Canoes will be lent on a need & distance basis with contribution to gas, loading and unloading an added plus. Preference is to have as many team canoes at the race venue outside of MHCC canoes.

SPRINT – Who Says Size Matters?
Human Powered Craft Race
Join a plethora of small water craft on the start line and fight for the distinction of 1st or last (DFL – Distinguished For Longevity ) over the line!

The 5.6 mile course will start heading up river turn counter clockwise around a permanent dolphin, head down river against the wind with the current and turn counter clockwise back up river. The course will be back through the starting line and around the same permanent dolphin for the last counter clockwise turn. You’ll finish back through the starting line with the current (in the opposite direction that you started in).

Eighty percent of the course will be visible from the park bank depending on conditions. From the bank’s edge you can see all the way down the river in both directions as the bank slopes down 20 feet to the shore. This poses great viewing for family and friends who come out for the day.
